NEW YORK—“This is my first time here, so aside from the fact that Radio City is just great, it was awesome, awesome, I mean emphasis on the 'awe' part. I'm staring at it, I can't—I'm not even blinking,” said Luke Babaing at Friday evening’s performance of Chinese New Year Splendor .

“The way they segment each piece where they come out, it's kind of a cool thing because it basically gives you a chance to breathe until the next one,” he laughed.

Luke, who is Filipino and works on the technical and computer side at The New York Times, said, “I'm a fan of old Chinese kung fu films.”

He said he was surprised there were so many different types of dances.

“5,000 years—it's like, wow … I was glad I was able to see it. I know that tomorrow is the last show.”

“I wasn't able to be expecting it to be as fabulous as this,“ he said.

He came with a friend, Oleg Gurvich, who works in the computer department of an insurance broker company.

Originally from Russia, Oleg said, “I've been here for about 15 years. I work with people of various cultures, including many Chinese. But I was always on the outside looking in. So this is a bit of an inside look. I liked the show. I think it's a great ensemble.”

The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, Feb. 9. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: http://www.DivinePerformingArts.org/
