Archna and Micket came to see the Chinese New Year Splendor at Radio City Music Hall after hearing about the show on the subway.
Archna, who works at the city, grew up in Singapore. She has "sort of celebrated Chinese New Year before, but not the same way," she said.
They thought the show was "very different," but "good."
Micket, an accountant, liked the drumming sequence right before intermission, including the dance associated with it, while Archna pointed to "Nymphs of the Sea" as her favorite.
They were both impressed by the vivid backgrounds accompanying the different performances.
"All the backgrounds," said Micket.
"The backgrounds were amazing," Archna agreed.
"Cool sets and costumes," Micket added.
Commenting on the performances that told about Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful resistance to persecution by the communist regime in modern-day China, the two recognized that such performances would not be permitted in China.
"Not something that would fly in China," one said.
However, "their message -that part was interesting."
The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, February 9.
