NEW YORK -A former music teacher from a university in Russia says she has never seen anything quite like the Chinese New Year Splendor. Vmarova Nelly was at the show with her friend Nailya on Thursday night.

She said the show was excellent.

"Beautiful colors, beautiful costumes, professional dancers," she said.

"I never saw anything like this. With history of China," she said.

Ms. Nelly taught music at a university in South Ukraine for 28 years. She said the show's orchestra had a "good melody" and was "very professional."

"I like the songs, beautiful voices. The piano (banzou) is also nice," she said.

She said the digital backdrops were also very good.

"I will be happy to see the show again next year," she said.

Alexandra York, the founder and president of American Renaissance for the Twenty-first Century, was also at the show on Thursday.

"It's beautiful. The music is nice," she said.

She appreciated the mix of Eastern and Western instruments, and particularly enjoyed the two-string Chinese violin called the erhu.

Ms. York has written on art and the culture for over a decade and has had works published in Reader's Digest, Vogue, USA Today, American Arts Quarterly, and American Artist.

The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, Feb. 9. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: http://www.DivinePerformingArts.org/ .
