NEW YORK -""It was, besides being an excellent performance, perfectly executed. It was all excellently executed. It was all very good. We loved many of the pieces. The performance, the costumes, the orchestration, everything was perfect.
"I liked the drums, I particularly loved the drums, that's really … great, but we liked the entire performance."
These were the words of a photojournalist from New York City, who came with his family to see the show.
"It was also a very good way of making the public aware of Falun Gong and the plight of Falun Gong in China. An effective way of communicating that message," he added.
Sergio Londono, a structural civil engineer, said of the show, "I think it's spectacular. It's really very good."
Of his favorite pieces in the show, he said, "There were two pieces I liked the most. One of them was the one with the sea, the ocean … a lot of blue … the way they waved the fans with the silk. I liked it very much. It was very pleasant to see and very calm and quiet and peaceful, and ... perfectly done.
"The other was the one of the two teenagers in the temple. That one kind of brings a lot of thoughts … because there is a lot of history behind it, but there is the actual reality of our youth and the people who react to the history and how, in a way, it can be combined and brought into … relationship, or a type of conversation. So I liked that one."
"And the drums! They have a lot of weight."
Sergio added, "The instrument with … the erhu -I have never seen that one. It's really amazing, how many different sounds and pitches you can bring out of it. My son was also very pleased with that -very impressed.
"I liked the way the colors are combined with the music and the background on the screen -very well chosen. I'm really very impressed."
