NEW YORK -Carl Zittello, a security guard in a hospital from New York enjoyed the Chinese New Year Splendor on Saturday night.
"I thought it was a wonderful show," he said.
"Certainly for those folks who believe that the new China has all but eclipsed the ancient China, then I think it was a very worthy testament to that message," he said.
He enjoyed the symbolism in the performances.
"I really enjoyed the set of the statues coming to life and the thugs with hammer and sickle jackets," he said.
Mr. Zittello said he was aware of the human rights abuses in China.
"I think it's actually been going on for a long time now," he said.
"The old China I think will recapture its essence and perhaps at some point in the future be prepared to eliminate or to neutralize the extent of the government's control over the people today," he said.
He said he found about the show at Costco. "We got a good price on the tickets, so it's been a very lucky day," he said.
The Divine Performing Arts international touring companies land next in Germany and Japan.
