NEW YORK -Spanish news anchor Antonio Martinez says he thoroughly enjoyed the Chinese New Splendor, which played its final show at Radio City Music Hall Saturday night.

"The truth is that I can't stop talking about this, I'm totally enchanted," he said. "One of the things that impressed me most was the soprano."

Martinez works with Univision 41, a Spanish news program in New York. He said it was great to see so many people of Chinese descent, both in the show and in the audience, who were looking to maintain the old values.

"I can confirm what they mentioned once, that it's very clear the spiritually the Chinese have. It's incredibly beautiful. And the words it has, that give a very clear reflection of the meaning of the Chinese culture, of all the battle it has had.

"One of the most beautiful numbers for me was 'The Risen Lotus,' many people may not get it, because the dance is very simple but the women give so much joy to their dancing that it seems like they are made of air -it's an incredibly beautiful dance. I love it so much," he said.

He said even though he had seen the show before, he could not stop marveling.

"I love those epic numbers, too, there is always some grand history of the growth of the Chinese civilization since it started 5,000 years ago. They had continuous battles to preserve their culture, preserve what they had," he said.

He said the Splendor reminded him that China is not all about materialism.

"Sometimes we forget when we think about China, we think about the materialism etc., but we forget it's a 5,000-year old culture, and there is a great profundity in all they do and a great discipline," he said.

He said that in the past, Chinese culture had always been held in high regard for such things as caring about the environment and surroundings.

"We should not forget that they were the first to develop a concrete writing system, printing, gunpowder, the knowledge of astrology, and they have always linked science, the development of science, with spirituality," he said.

"And that is something that not all cultures have. And I love to see that they are continuing to preserve it," he said.

The Divine Performing Arts international touring companies land next in Germany and Japan.
