NEW YORK -The Chinese New Year Splendor finished its 15-show run in New York City tonight to a full house. The show ran from Feb. 30 through Jan. 9 at Radio City Music Hall to increasingly larger audiences.

Among Saturday's audience was Herb Chesbrough, an arts consultant from Saratoga Springs, New York. Chesbrough is a vice president with Arts Consulting Group, Inc., an organization that works with various arts groups around the country. He attended the show with his wife Kathy after the couple heard about it from a friend.

Chesbrough's reaction to the performances was positive and enthusiastic. "I love it," he said. "The costumes were magnificent, the dancing was very stylized and different from what we see in the west."

Even though he was impressed with every performance, Chesbrough still had a favorite.

"I particularly like the drummers," he said, referring to a lively performance called the 'Tang Corps Drummers.'" "Their energy, the action … you could tell they are very well trained."

Chesbrough was also taken by the performance "Nymphs of the Sea" that depicted playful sea nymphs and a flowing ocean scene.

"The costumes, the movement -very well done," he remarked.

As for whether he had ever seen a show similar to the Splendor, Chesbrough said this was a unique theater experience for him.

"This is very different," he remarked. "I think it's educational. I think a lot of people are going to get a chance to see something different."

The Divine Performing Arts international touring companies land next in Germany and Japan.
